When I sat down to reflect on the past ten years and the incredible journey that Turning60andBeyond (T60Plus) has been on over the past decade, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead. I began blogging because I saw so many people that were in their 60’s and 70’s and in poor health and had just given up. I didn’t want it to be like that for me and hoped that I could help inspire others. What began as a humble health and wellness blog aimed at supporting individuals navigating the milestone of turning 60 has blossomed into a vibrant community of like-minded individuals committed to embracing life’s adventures, regardless of age.
How the decades fly by
Isn’t it amazing how the decades fly by?
Preparing to celebrate my 70th birthday later in March, I can’t help but marvel at how much has changed and evolved as I and others have aged. While the core mission of promoting health and wellness remains, the focus has shifted a bit to the boundless possibilities, challenges, and opportunities that arise in the 7th, 8th, and 9th decade of life. It’s so true that planning for our 70s should begin as early as possible. So if you are younger and reading this, pull your boots on and start training like your life depends on it.
One thing that has remained constant throughout this journey of life is the ability to face challenges, celebrate victories, and learn valuable lessons at every age. And through it all, I hope you are more passionate about living life to the fullest.
Aging is the gateway to a new chapter
Turning 70 is not just a milestone for me; it’s a gateway to a new chapter filled with endless opportunities for growth, adventure, and fulfillment. Redefining what it means to age gracefully and to embrace every moment with enthusiasm and vigor. Or as I always like to say, you have to be ready to get ready.
As I embark on this new decade, I am excited to explore topics that resonate with you, the T60Plus community. Let me know if there is a topic that you want to know more about.
From staying active and healthy to nurturing meaningful relationships and pursuing lifelong passions, there is so much to discover and share.
Perhaps most importantly, this new chapter is about embracing the joy of simply being alive. It’s about cherishing the moments, savoring the memories, and finding beauty in the everyday wonders that surround us. To enjoy these moments, our health is key.
So here’s to the next decade of Turning60andBeyond – a decade filled with laughter, love, and endless possibilities. Together, let’s continue to inspire and uplift each other as we navigate this incredible journey called life. After all, age is just a number, and the best is yet to come!
Tips to enhance aging
Here are some thoughts about what you may do to enhance your aging:
- Embracing Wisdom: You’ve accumulated a wealth of life experience and wisdom.
- Pursuing Passions: Indulge in activities and hobbies that bring you joy and fulfillment. Maybe it’s painting, gardening, or traveling, embrace your passions wholeheartedly.
- Prioritizing Health: Focus on maintaining your physical and mental well-being through regular exercise, nutritious eating, and mindfulness practices. Investment in your health is key to enjoy a vibrant and active lifestyle.
- Cultivating Connections: Nurture meaningful relationships with friends, family, and loved ones. Take the time to connect with others. We are hearing more and more that isolation can dramatically affect your health.
- Embracing Change: As you age, embrace the changes that come with aging with grace and acceptance. Embrace new experiences and challenges with an open mind and a positive attitude. I always like Carol Dweck’s work on mindset. If we have a growth mindset, we can focus on what we want to be able to do and if we are falling short, we are just not there yet.
- Setting Goals: Keep setting goals and aspirations for yourself, whether related to personal growth, travel, or adventure. Stay motivated and inspired to continue striving for excellence. Don’t forget to work on habits that get us to our goals. Start smart and build.
- Give Back: Use your time and talents to give back quickly. It could be volunteering, mentoring, or advocating for meaningful change to leave a positive impact on the world.
- Celebrating Life: Most importantly, celebrate the gift of life every day. Cherish each moment, express gratitude for the blessings you have, and live with a sense of purpose and joy.
Growing older is filled with incredible milestones. There are always opportunities for growth, discovery, and joy to create a life that is rich, fulfilling, and truly extraordinary.
